ISPM 15 (WPM) Marking Requirements

1. Examples of Acceptable Marks

2.1 (example) IPPC logo outside the leaf.
2.3 (example) Illegible. IPPC logo and the leaf on the wrong side of the mark.
3 (example) Incorrect shape, round instead of square or rectangular.
4 (example) Additional information within the borders of the mark.
5 (example) Illegible, incomplete, hand drawn, and no border line separating logo from country information.

Mark Requirements

The mark should be:

a. Registered with DAFF-DIS.
b. Legible, permanent, and not transferable.
c. Placed in a visible location, preferably on at least two opposite sides.
d. Rectangular or square in shape.
e. Surrounded by a border line with a vertical line separating the IPPC logo from country information.
f. Must not be hand drawn.
g. No other information shall be contained within the borders of the mark.
h. No variations in the symbol/mark should be accepted.
i. For traceability, dates must be included on certified wood packaging material to correspond with records; however, these must be strictly outside the borders of the mark.
j. “DB” is no longer a requirement.
k. The mark should consist of:

  • The symbol – IPPC logo
  • Country code – ZA
  • Unique code allocated to service provider
  • Treatment code – MB / HT
