HOW TO USE THE HANDLING PROTOCOLS
There are 12 links in the handling chain – from production to arrival overseas.
- The Primary Concept per link is the main area of attention in the link.
- The Critical Guidelines per primary concept are the ‘What, Why and How’.
- Supporting Documents, as per critical guidelines, are documents containing more detailed guidelines, protocols, and research background.
Please make use of the Hortgro Stone Fruit App’s cultivar information and current guidelines during the season.
Any proposals or comments are welcomed to ensure the user-friendliness of the guidelines.
Note:
While every effort is made to keep the guidelines up to date, users are responsible for ensuring they are aware of the latest standards and procedures. It is important to note that different cultivars have unique characteristics and require specific handling protocols to maintain optimal eating quality in the overseas and local markets. For example, one cultivar may require immediate cooling after harvest, whereas another may suffer quality losses if cooled too rapidly.
Under ‘Supporting Documents’, users are sometimes referred to the ‘PPECB’s Blue Book’. Although this resource is currently being updated, most of the information remains relevant and useful for background purposes. Hortgro cannot be held accountable for consequences arising from the use of these guidelines.
